Blocks for Blantyre in Malawi
An Opportunity to Share Your Mission Commitment.

Pastor Salary Supplements
Each $200 gift will underwrite the costs of one pastor in a new or poorer congregation for one year in the Synod of Blantyre. 

Adopt a Bed at Mulanje Mission Hospital
Each $500 gift will underwrite the cost of caring for the patients in one hospital bed at the Mulanje Mission for one year. The only church hospital in the Synod needs to raise $75,000/year to keep its 164 beds.

H. Parker Sharp Health Centre
The source of health care and nutritional supplements for malnourished babies in the Domasi region. $100/year will support one clinic patient.

Zomba Theological College
Building eight, semi-detached homes to accommodate married students will cost $18,000 per home. $2,000/year will support one student at the college. 

Evangelism
Brings the people of Malawi to Christ. $500 will enable the Synod to carry out one open-air evangelism campaign. 

Chichewa Bibles for Congregations
$2.20 for New Testaments and up to $6.00 for complete Bibles. 

Domasi Secondary School
Providing student scholarships and stipends for tutors. $150/year will educate one day scholar; $375/year will educate a boarding student. 

Domasi Nursery School
Started by Dorothea Bowers, this pre-school needs $2,400/year to continue to operate. 

Chigodi Women’s Centre
Training lay and full-time church workers in leadership and self-help skills, law and advocacy. $10/day or $300/month will help train over 250 women. 

Development Studies and Women Empowerment Courses
$2,300/person/year 

Likhubula Youth and Conference Centre
Trains 300 youth per year and is redeveloping its orphanage. $10/day or $3650/year will help serve the orphans and youth. 

Synod Chaplain
Ministers to the sick and bereaved in Blantyre. $100/month or $1200/year will support the hospital chaplaincy. 

Motorbikes for Rural Pastors
In a synod with 1.2 million members and only 120 pastors, $3,500 will provide a motorbike for one rural-based reverend, a great help in ministering to God’s people. 

Chilema Lay Training Centre
Training lay and full time church workers, teaching management and life skills, home and community development. $10/day will enable the Centre to train one leader. Library book shipments are also needed. 

Projects Office Work 

  • Adult Literacy — supports 45 literacy centers as the first step toward a new life’s work. $70/year will enable a learner to attain a basic education.
  • Naming’azi Farm — trains 10,000 farmers in 25 villages in sustainable agricultural production. $7 enables the center to train one farmer for one day.
  • Child Survival — advocates for good health and spiritual development of orphaned children. Serves 720 children orphaned by AIDS in 7 day-care centers in Blantyre and provides loans to orphan care givers. $10/month will feed one child.
  • General Relief Work — facilitates self-development and provides disaster relief.
  • Housing Program — develops decent homes for people working on these projects. $15,000 will enable one house to be built.
  • Construction Advice and Planning Support — provides roofs for churches and construction support for clinics, schools, hostels, etc. $2,000 will roof one manse.

Create kits for families to use to
help care for relatives with AIDS.
